Coega provided funding to the Zwide-based community outreach initiative, the Ubuntu Education Fund, to implement its Cradle to Career Programme.

This initiative has three components to it: Health, Household Stability and Education thereby taking care of vulnerable women during their pregnancy, seeing them through the birth and postnatal period through to toddler stages, and finally absorbs the child to the Early Childhood Development Centre. It also extends to other programmes such as the After School Programme, which provides assistance for science learners in the form of access to a mobile science lab, assisting learners to secure scholarships and bursaries and assisting with graduates with placement to companies.
